Tech Club Projects

The potato cannon...What do you get when you have 5 foot of PVC a grill ignighter, and a combination of propane and oxygen? Well it is either a small bomb or a large potato cannon (to big to call it a gun). this is a project that was started 3years ago and had grown and changed and been added to since then. with a 3" barrel it is able to easily lanch a potato, tennis ball, or even a small rodent (not yet tested). This coming year we will be finishing assembly of the two cannons and shooting them off (or blowing them up). We have also constructed what verywell could be a turbo charger for one, or an early ignition mechanism it has yet to be tested. The turbo charger is nothing more than a 8 inch piece of PVC capped on one end and a coupler on the other to connect it to the rest of the cannon, and a 3 inch computer case fan stuck inside to cerculate the gasses, theoreticly mixing them better and therefor burrning them more efecintly. but of course it could also just ingnight the gasses early and set off the cannon either way it should be interesting to see....

Campus radio/internet radio...The campus radio is a local station able to be picked up within a close vasinity to the MTI main campus. Once up and running this can be used to update students and staff of who won the annual dodgeball tourny to something as far feched as the school being locked down due to a crazy man running around the area. The campus radio will also be available over the net via the Tech club web site. brocast schedules consists of morning and noon news updates, and music of all genres played both over the net and local radio threw out the day. although the campus radio launch date is still a ways off all the equipment needed is together and it is a matter of getting it going and the music streamed to the channel.
